Base law enforcement officials celebrate, educate during police week

The 87th Security Forces Squadron celebrated its members during National Police Week on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. May 11-15, 2015. National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers. Established by Congress in 1962, National Police Week recognizes law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. The 87th SFS, also called the Joint Base Police, provide JB MDL community members with installation entry control, law enforcement, crime prevention, resource protection, force protection and physical security services across the expansive joint base. The 87th SFS held a golf tournament, a military working dog demonstration at a local elementary school, a retreat ceremony and went on a 10-kilometer ruck march during the week.
