Team MDL kicks off Air Force Assistance Fund Published March 16, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Joshua King Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Public Affairs JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- This year's Air Force Assistance Fund, providing an opportunity for Airmen to help their fellow wingmen, runs from March 23 to May 1. The AFAF campaign supports four charities dedicated to caring for Airmen throughout their lives, including the General and Mrs. Curtis E. Lemay Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Enlisted Village and Blue Skies of Texas (formerly known as the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation). "The charitable affiliate organizations provide support in an emergency, with educational needs, or a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of our Air Force members in need of financial assistance" said Master Sgt. Vickie Davis, JB MDL AFAF representative. The primary goal of this year's campaign is to ensure representatives achieve 100 percent face-to-face contact with all joint base Airmen, spreading awareness about the charities, answering questions and instructing them how to donate. "I just want to encourage everyone that is able, to give," said Davis. "These organizations are very helpful for those who are in need of assistance."
