The 7th Annual Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Information Technology Expo was held at Tommy B's Community Activities Center, March 11, 2015, here.

Nearly 60 vendors from across the country came together to share their latest technological advancements to more than 200 members of the joint base community.

Vendors showcased innovations from software and office equipment to safety gear and electrical and communication equipment, plus many advancements from career-specific vendors.

"The purpose of the expo, with technology changing at unprecedented rates, is to keep defense personnel, or in this case, the joint base in particular, up-to-date on the latest technologies, products and services," said Mark Flemister, organizer of this year's expo.

Flemister said the event doesn't cater to specific ranks, enlisted or officer, more than others.

"When junior enlisted or young sergeants attend these expos, they work hands-on the most and they might see something that would benefit their unit," said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Daniel Bryner, A Company, 2-228th Aviation Regiment aviation officer. "They can then push it up their chain and possibly getting that product in the future."

Several of the vendors provide services for specific units, but the majority of vendors provide equipment, software or services for many of the units on the joint base.

Mike Murphy, federal sales manager representing one of the vendors at the expo, focuses on the 87th CS and how they run cable throughout JB MDL.

"We do have some products that deal with inside work, but the majority of what we do is 95 percent outside cabling," Murphy said. "These shows benefit not only the base community by showing the new technology, they help us as vendors build networks, too. Just today I saw several companies we partner with."

Col. Charles Kelm, 87th Mission Support Group commander, encouraged all in attendance to visit all of the vendors to review the products and services offered and how they could apply them to their career.

"I'd like to thank NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command), 87th Communications Squadron, Army Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association for putting this together," he said. "The teamwork, the details and everything that went into organizing this event came together to make this a success."
