Ribbon cutting marks 'storefront' medical presence for 514th AMW Published June 25, 2014 By Courtesy Asset 514th Wing Medical Section JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Members of the 514th Air Mobility Wing Medical Squadron and the 514th Aerospace Medicine Squadron have a new place to call home thanks to a joint effort between them and the 87th Medical Group at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The combined collaborative effort culminated in a ribbon cutting of a new 1,780 square foot command suite, May 4, 2014, in building 3458. The suite consolidates command sections of the WMS and AMS. Previously, the sections had been spread throughout the facility and other buildings. "This ceremony isn't just to celebrate a new command suite, it's really about celebrating great teamwork and renewed collaboration between two great organizations, the 87th MDG and the 514th Medical Squadrons," said Col. James Marques, 514th MDS commander. The new space, located across from the 87th MDG's command suite, will enable the units to work more efficiently together and create a mission partnership that will be more effective and responsive to the missions of JB MDL, according to Marques. Brig. Gen. John C. Flournoy Jr., 4th Air Force commander, officiated the ceremony and praised the partnership of the 87th MDG and the 514th medical squadrons. "This renewed partnership is a model for other bases and shows the strong commitment of the 87th MDG to advancing relationships on the joint base." "Strengthening our relationships with our partners on the joint base is a strategic priority of the 87th MDG and aligns with JB MDL commander, Col. James Hodges', priority to grow the on and off base community," said Col. Andy Cole, 87th MDG commander. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by members of both the medical squadrons and the 87th MDG and was followed by tours of the new space.
