Soldiers from the 23rd Military Police Company at Ft. Drum, N.Y. conducted combat training here Sept. 6 to Sept. 16.

The Soldiers convoyed to JB MDL to execute a culminating training event to validate and certify their mobility support, detention operations and deployment skills.

“We were able to pick up what we do and export that several hundred miles away to a different location,” said Capt. Brian Casey, 23rd MP CO commander. “We stressed all of our systems, Soldiers and leadership, almost to the breaking point, but in the end, we were able to validate that they know how to do their job and do it well.”

Conducting the training event at JB MDL challenged the Soldiers with unfamiliar environments.

“The location was set up pretty nice,” said Staff Sgt. Brandon Grajeda, 91st Military Police Battalion correction and detention specialist. “Good training facilities made it possible to get the intent of what the training was trying to capture and conduct our mission.”

The 23rd Military Police Company Soldiers will continue to maintain their combat readiness with alternate location training. JB MDL is used to train more than 700,000 personnel a year.
