A new line of private label products will be available at commissaries around the globe in 2017 according to the Defense Commissary Agency.

Private label products are offered by a retailer under its own in-house brand, creating an alternative to national name-brands which the commissary will continue to carry. An initial assortment of 400 items is slated to be available at all commissary locations in May.

“Our customers have been asking for private label for a long time,” said Joseph H. Jeu, DeCA CEO and director. “They are smart, savvy shoppers who know that private label products are cost-effective alternatives to national brands.”

DeCA conducted a selection process to identify the right supplier for their new private label products in order to ensure the new line provides high-quality options for the shoppers.

“Private label is a quality product for a lesser price,” said John Zouera, McGuire-Dix-side commissary store director.

The selection will continue to grow to about 1,000 different products by the end of 2017.

“Throughout the process, our goal was to find a partner that could provide quality products to our patrons at a savings level that is equivalent to or better than what they find from private label products at commercial grocers,” said Jeu. “We’re excited to help [our customers] save more at our commissaries.”
