JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The 305th Air Mobility Wing and 87th Force Support Squadron teamed up to help swing and night shift Airmen take their physical fitness test at hours that better fit their schedules.
At the standard PT testing times, night shift Airmen would be taking the evaluation after working a 12 hour shift.
“It is immensely important for night-shift workers to be provided the opportunity to test at night,” said 2d Lt. Teshara Clemons, 305th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-17 assistant AMU officer in charge. “In the past, the testers would have to readjust their sleep and work schedule to take their assessment during the day after working a long shift.”
This new program started in January and tests are provided once a month.
“Once I received more guidance on when it would be best for not only for those members testing, but for our staff as well, we implemented the test sessions,” said Staff Sgt. Marquette Beard, 87th FSS Fitness Assessment Cell NCOIC.
The 87th ABW and 305th AMW continue to work hard to provide more services and opportunities for the night shift.
“Offering night commander's calls, flight kitchen services, night time audiology exams from the 87 Medical Group, expanded night-shift training opportunities across the base and now night fitness assessments are all examples of better accommodations for our night-shift workers,” said Lt. Col. Daniel Lang 305th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander.
This is an example of the WIN AS ONE and CAN DO spirits of the two wings.
