U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Tedd Hutley relinquished command to Coast Guard Cmdr. Raymond Negron during an Atlantic Strike Team change of command here, July 12.

Hutley was selected for reassignment to Coast Guard Headquarters to be the National Strike Force and CBRN capabilities division chief. During his last remarks as commanding officer, Hutley spoke of the dedication and impact the unit has had on the nation.

“I could not be more proud of the men and women of this unit; active duty, reserve, civilian and auxiliary,” said Hutley. “I am in continual awe of how much a small group of dedicated Coast Guardsmen can do to positively affect emergency operations throughout the nation.”

Negron, accompanied by his wife, Mariah, and their children came to Joint Base MDL from the Republic of Liberia where he advised the U.S. ambassador and senior U.S. and Liberian personnel on maritime safety and security issues.

Now leading the Atlantic Strike Team, part of the National Strike Force, Negron is responsible for all Coast Guard districts and Federal Response Regions, and said he was thankful for the advice and hard-work Hutley has given to their transition.

“The thought of command can be overwhelming at times,” said Negron. “[My discussions with Hutley] helped make the burdens a little easier to swallow. You have left me with an outstanding team that undoubtedly reflects on your great leadership.”
