Robert Mauro McGuire Tax Center McGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- Interested in a little cash or at least staying out of trouble with the IRS? A visit to the McGuire Tax Center should be at the top of your to-do list. The McGuire Tax Center is an extension of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program developed by the IRS to facilitate taxpayers with filing their income tax returns. The tax center is staffed with volunteers who have received in-depth training from the IRS as well as specialized guidance from the New Jersey Division of Taxation. The tax center provides free tax assistance, to include electronic filing, for active duty, retired, Reserve and military family members. The tax center, located in Bldg. 2906, Room 202, opened Feb. 2 and is currently taking appointments. The tax center also offers walk-in filing for 1040EZ filers Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. To be prepared for your visit, bring the following: -Valid military or dependent ID card -A copy of Social Security cards for taxpayer, spouse, and all dependents -Bank account and routing numbers or a void check for direct deposit -Interest statements from all bank accounts (Form 1099) -Wage and Earnings statement (W-2) from each employer. Active-duty members can obtain this form from www.mypay.dfas.mil. -Childcare/Daycare expense information. This includes the amounts paid per child as well as the name, Social Security number and address of the childcare provider or the tax identification number of the childcare center. -A copy of last year's tax return (if available) -Any other relevant information regarding income or expenses
