UC, GHO schedule several FCN residents to move

This is the beginning of a very exciting time for United Communities, the housing office and McGuire families. It's exciting because the majority of families will be moved into new homes this year. The Government Housing Office asks for your cooperation in moving when UC needs your home vacated for the upcoming demolition. UC staff will work with families as much as they can to smooth concerns with vacations, TDYs, deployments, holidays, etc., which may conflict with move dates.

Between now and July 2009, families currently residing in the 4000 area, 4201-4210, 4225-4227 and the officer area of Falcon Courts North are scheduled to relocate. UC will send an attrition letter to these families approximately two months prior to the scheduled move. These letters will ask for your future plans (PCS, retirement, separation, etc.), so UC can solidify moving plans.

Housing residents will receive a second letter; a general notice to vacate, which informs people of the date the area needs to be completely vacated. UC will move families earlier than this date, as new homes become available. Approximately 30 days prior to moving, residents will receive a final letter from UC, which will notify you of your new address and advise you to call the Government Housing Office for orders. Before calling the GHO for orders, decide whether you will want to move via a contract move or a DITY move so your orders may be prepared in advance. Since these moves are being funded by the government, funding constraints may not allow UC to give residents the full 30-day notice we strive to attain.

Due to the amount of families still residing in the 4000 area, it will be split in two for move-out purposes, with the families residing in 4019-4045 and 4225-4227 moving beginning this month (40 families), an additional 50 families beginning in November and the remaining 40 beginning in December. These families will relocate to new junior-enlisted housing in Garden Terrace at Fort Dix or into existing homes in the 4200 area in FCN (formerly senior NCO homes). The east half of the 4000 area, along with 4201-4210, is planned to be vacated starting in April 2009, with the final families moving out in July 2009.

The officer area will be vacated simultaneously with the first eight families scheduled to move in November, another 23 in December, 29 in January, 37 in February and the remaining 40 families in March. These families will move to new officer homes in either Falcon Courts East or Holly Crest at Fort Dix. Enough new officer homes may not be available, so UC has aside new senior NCO homes (same floor plan/style as company-grade officer homes) located in a secluded area in Laurel Hills at Fort Dix.

Note that as the winter season approaches, these dates are estimated and hinge upon the weather being mild enough for UC to continue with construction work on time.
