Additional personnel applications available on Virtual MPF

By 2nd Lt. Katrina Graham 305th Mission Support Squadron career development

As the personnel world transforms, the Air Force Personnel Center continues to migrate applications to virtual MPF.

Home-basing and follow-on assignment applications are now available on vMPF. These programs give advance assignment consideration to members who have an overseas tour, allowing Airmen and their families to plan in advance. Another assignment application now available online is the expanded permissive assignment program. To be eligible for PCS under the expanded permissive program, a valid requirement must exist at the gaining base, and time on station requirements need to be met. Individuals who apply for a PCS under this program are responsible for all expenses associated with the PCS.

The most recent addition to the online assignment applications is the designated location move application. The DLM assignment program allows Airmen with a foreign-born spouse to apply for travel to the spouse's country while the Airman serves in a dependent-restricted overseas tour. Members who apply for this program must display unusual circumstances that other Airmen in similar situations would not experience.

These voluntary assignment applications join others that were previously available virtually, such as humanitarian requests.

Additionally, individuals can apply for retraining on virtual MPF. Both the CAREERS and NCO Retraining programs are available. Airmen should ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before applying to retrain.

The Military Personnel Element is available to assist Airmen with vMPF applications. For questions about assignment applications and retraining, contact the Career Development office at (609) 754-0252.
