Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Air Force active duty, Guard, and Reserve Wings will be undergoing a Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) performed by the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) on behalf of United States Cyber Command 8 - 12 February.  A CCRI is a technical and operational inspection which takes an in-depth look at an organization's security practices and network readiness to ensure they are compliant with Department of Defense standards. The CCRI team will look for deficiencies and vulnerabilities in both the physical and cyber domains.

Command Cyber Readiness Inspection.... How does this affect me?

While most of this inspection will be transparent to users, it is important to understand that all personnel who utilize the Air Force Information Network (AFIN) will have their computers inspected, therefore, you're all participating!

Some initial tips to ensure success are:
1.) Restart your computer daily!
2.) Remove your CAC/Token from your system any time you leave sight of the system - even if only for a moment.
3.) Be suspicious of any unknown E-mails from outside .mil sources that are unexpected...especially if they contain attachments.
4.) Ensure SIPRNet monitors don't face windows or common hallways to restrict viewing by unauthorized personnel.
5.) Properly store classified materials and equipment when they are no longer in use.
6.) Implement clean desk policy.
7.) If you know of a computer that is rarely turned on...turn it on so the computer can receive security updates.
8.) Be familiar with response and reporting procedures regarding cyber threats (hint: utilize the virtual Enterprise Service Desk or incident reporting aid).

The primary contribution JB MDL Air Force members can make to this inspection is to actively enforce and obey all traditional physical, and computer security practices to properly guard classified information and correctly use all network systems.

Bottom line; don't drop your guard, even for a moment.  Don't be the weakest link.  In today's interconnected cyber domain a risk taken by one, is a vulnerability accepted by all.
