99th RSC hosts mass medical readiness event

By Staff Sgt. Shawn Morris 99th Regional Support Command

The Army Reserve's 99th Regional Support Command is scheduled to host a mass medical readiness event here Aug. 8-9 in an effort to increase Soldier readiness throughout the 99th RSC's area of responsibility.

"It's a medical one-stop shop," said Capt. Latasha Thompson, health services HR manager for the 99th RSC Surgeon's Office. "This is a wonderful opportunity to increase medical readiness."

The event is set to offer services such as Periodic Health Assessments, dental exams, vision screenings, HIV blood draws, immunizations, hearing tests and LOD processing.

"This mass medical readiness event will give commanders the opportunity to take care of all those medical items," Thompson said.

Attendees will also have the chance to update their temporary and permanent profiles.

"We have a lot of Soldiers who continue to get temporary profiles, or Soldiers who have been hurt for a while and need to be on some type of profile," Thompson explained. "This is a great time for Soldiers who need a profile to speak to the physician or physician assistant one-on-one and bring in the medical documentation so we can look over it and perhaps see if you do need a temporary or permanent profile."

Army Reserve Soldiers living and serving throughout the 99th RSC's area of responsibility from Maine to Virginia are eligible to attend.
