AMCTES welcomes new commander Published Aug. 5, 2014 By Susan G. Gotta Air Mobility Command Test and Evaluation Squadron JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST - N.J. -- The Air Mobility Command Test and Evaluation Squadron offered a heartfelt farewell to Lt. Col. Randall B. Sealy as he relinquished command to Lt. Col. Travis D. Sjostedt. In the centuries-old tradition of the change of command ceremony, the flag is passed, allegiances bestowed and a new day of leadership begins. Presiding over the ceremony was the Col. William M. Stowe III, Air Mobility Command Test and Evaluation director. Assuming command of the squadron is no stranger to Sjostedt, as he served as director of operations for the past two years. Special family members on hand to mark the occasion with Sjostedt were his wife and daughters, as well as his mother, his father and his In-laws. Sjostedt readily accepted the responsibilities and challenges of command of AMCTES, and extended his gratitude for the privilege to lead this distinguished squadron. Re-activated in 1994, AMCTES is Air Mobility Command's sole operational test and evaluation organization for air mobility weapon systems, subsystems and mission equipment, and is a field operating agency reporting to HQ AMC/TE at Scott AFB, IL. AMCTES conducts operational testing, assesses new tactics and concepts, and performs logistics supportability and service tests on AMC's airlift and tanker aircraft, mission systems and support equipment. Additionally, AMCTES participates in Air Force, joint service and Allied test programs. It operates locally at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, as the parent organization for Detachment 3 at Edwards AFB, CA, and five operational locations that provide strategically placed subject matter experts in operations and maintenance to support AF acquisition programs across the nation. This structure enables AMCTES to identify improvements to modernization programs for AMC's mobility fleet of C-5, C-17, C-130H/J, KC-10, KC-135 aircraft. In addition, they support the Air Force Operation Test and Evaluation Center's Initial Operational Test and Evaluation of the KC-46A. As each ending also serves as a new beginning, we say goodbye to one commander while welcoming another. AMCTES is proud to welcome Lieutenant Colonel Sjostedt as Commander and wish him continued success as he takes on his new responsibilities. The men and women of AMCTES wish Lieutenant Colonel Sealy and his family continued health, happiness, and success as Lieutenant Colonel Sealy assumes his new position on the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) staff at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
