  • Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Commander
I've spent the past week watching a team of professionals attain the unattainable.

The men and women of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst launched aircraft, loaded cargo, set up an evacuation shelter, provided medical care and worked around the clock to make sure critical operations were successful.

I've always believed in the outstanding abilities of this team, and though it comes as no surprise, you have once again outdone yourselves. Because of you, almost 600 evacuees are here in the United States safe from harm. In addition, tons of vital cargo and a number of personnel have arrived safely and expediently in a ravaged country.

At a time when so many are affected by tragedy, you have shown your compassion and dedication as you've volunteered selfless hours and effort to this global endeavor. I've personally witnessed the caring and heartwarming attention you've paid to those entrusted to our care - you have represented yourselves, AMC and the Air Force as the best of the best. Whether active duty or Reserve, whether from the 87th Air Base Wing, the 514th and 305th Air Mobility Wings, 621st Contingency Response Wing or a host of other civilian and military organizations, you have extended yourselves in manner of which we can all be proud.

The outpouring of support from family members and the local community only compounds that which I have stated again and again: this is a unique relationship allowing us to accomplish so much more than any of us could do alone. JB MDL and the civilian and government agencies of New Jersey have once again teamed up to make the impossible possible.

You epitomize the Air Mobility Command mission - rapidly employing airlift in response to real-world scenarios. I am especially proud and honored to be your commander; thank you for all you have accomplished and all I know you will continue to do.
