Unrivaled Wingman/‘Can Do’ wing team up for Spring ‘07 MOBEX

Recently, I participated as the 819th Air Expeditionary Wing commander during our Joint 305th/514th Air Mobility Wing MOBEX. My experience represented an outstanding opportunity to witness our superb Team McGuire expeditionary mind-set as well as put into perspective why we train. The reason we participate in a Mobility Exercise is to make sure all deployable members from both wings work collectively to achieve and maintain the highest state of mission readiness for Team McGuire.

Both wings continually set the benchmark for Total Force, and this MOBEX was no exception. Our joint exercise demonstrated a remarkable level of seamless integration for both active and reserve personnel in the pursuit of one mission readiness goal. I truly believe both wings received valuable training in the areas of deployment, sustainment, and survivability. We can only gain this level of mobility expertise by periodically exercising our wartime skill. In this way, we ensure that we can deploy without delay, survive in a combat environment, and deliver on the long or short term requirements of a high ops tempo once our boots hit the ground.

As we continue to fight the Global War on Terrorism, our nation is counting on us to deliver rapid, flexible, and responsive air mobility to any place around the world. Col. Rick Martin, 305 AMW commander, and I share the responsibility to ensure the highest level of readiness for each wing. From my experience as the 819 AEW commander during our MOBEX, I am convinced that the collective efforts of our Air Force-Active and Reserve partners reflect the true spirit of relationship and team building and demonstrate why all of our Team McGuire members are so special!

Good partnerships come from good relationships! From this perspective, I believe our time-tested partnership is the key to successful training not only during the recent MOBEX but every single day at McGuire AFB. Additionally, the MOBEX will serve as a catalyst for strengthening the bond between the 305th and 514th Air Mobility Wings. In this way, our charter, an "Unrivaled Wingman," will help to ensure that our collective efforts provide the world's best mutual support to the Air Force.
