Troy Hutchinson, Marine Aircraft Group 49 assistant training chief, is the joint base's featured service member of the week. Hutchinson hails from Lewiston, Maine. Q: Why did you join the military? A: I always wanted to be a Marine ever since I was 7 years old. Q: What is your job and what is its impact on the mission? A: My job is to ensure MAG-49 Marines get all the annual training completed for the year. Marines cannot deploy or reenlist if their training is not complete. Q: Do you have any past or current family members in the military? A: Yes, my uncle, Mike, was in the Marines from the late 70s to early 80s. Q: Who most inspires you? A: My uncle inspires me the most. Q: What is one thing you'd like your fellow service members to take away or understand about the military? A: The military is what you make it. If you think something is terrible, that is exactly what your experience is going to be.
