Civilian recognized for 40 years of service
Col. John Wood, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst commander, honored Joseph “Joe” Dyton, 87th Civil Engineer Squadron operations manager, by presenting him with his 40-year pin Dec. 10, 2012, in the 87th CES conference room at JB MDL, N.J. Dyton began his federal career in November 1972 as a part-time student worker with the U.S. Postal Service. He also served as a Public Works Department laborer for the Naval Air Test Center and a Pipe Shop supervisor for the Lakehurst PWD. Dayton joined the 87th CES in 2009 where he now works in customer service. He is a self-described “people person” and said interaction with customers is what he enjoys most about his position. Dayton says he enjoys spending time with his 5-year-old grandson and umpiring baseball games at the high-school level and at Babe Ruth field where he worked two Babe Ruth World Series tournaments.
