Senior Master Sgt. David A. Brown, 47, and Senior Airman David I. Brown, 20, are both members of the 108th Air Refueling Wing, part of the New Jersey Air National Guard, here at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The father, Sergeant Brown, is a contracting officer who has been in the military for 29 years, while his son has two years in the National Guard and serves as a materiel management supply specialist. "My father has taught me many lessons over the years," Airman Brown said. "The most important is to be responsible and to be accountable for my actions. He has also made sure I know that education is a top priority in life and is very supportive of my quest for a degree – I am studying to be a teacher. But his principles and philosophies have become a part of me: be a good person, be yourself, live up to my potential and don’t settle for less, be careful who I associate with, dress well, respect women and have a good work ethic.
