Soldiers horse around at CSTX
Soldiers from the 424th Multi-functional Medical Battalion and 422nd Medical Detachment Veterinary Services receive instruction from Capt. John Polk (left), 422nd MDVS company commander and veterinarian, as they prepare for a lesson in basic horse-handling Feb. 27, 2014, at Forgotten Angels Equine Rescue in Medford, N.J. In addition to the hands-on training, Soldiers offered health exams and donated vaccines and deworming medicine during ‘Operation Mr. Ed’, a training scenario that was part of the 78th Training Division’s Combat Support Training Exercise. The equine sanctuary was used to simulate a ranch in a simulated deployed location and allowed Soldiers to practice handling large livestock. (U.S. Air Force Photo by 2nd Lt. Carrie Volpe/Released)
