MDL youth showcase artwork at gala
Young artists aged 6 to 12 from around the Joint Base recently submitted artwork for the Boys and Girls Club of America’s annual art competition earlier this month. Watercolor, pastel, collages and collaborations were just a few of the nine mediums showcased during the gallery. A board of neutral judges selected a winning piece from each category to be sent to a regional exhibition, with a chance to contend for a national title and display. “There really are no rules on creativity. You should let loose -- try everything," said Casandra Golden, McGuire Youth Programs art club teacher and program assistant. “Put your hands in paint and mix colors; try all different media and see what’s fun for you.”
