Airmen board Navy carrier
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Khayman Martinez and Airman 1st Class Jose Rodriguez, members of the 87th Air Base Wing, examine USS George H. W. Bush’s “island”, which is the command center for flight-deck operations aboard the carrier, during a visit to the Norfolk shipyard, V.A., July 13, 2018. The purpose of the visit was to expose them to life on a Navy aircraft carrier, observing the day to day flight operations and capabilities. USS Bush is 1,092 feet from bow to stern and received its nickname, "avenger" from the model aircraft George H. W. Bush flew in WWII.
