Full Steam Ahead: 87th CES Power Plant drives JB MDL flight testing operations
A picture of two high-pressure steam boilers inside the 87th Civil Engineer Squadron Power Plant on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Sept. 24, 2021. While being used to help support Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst catapult operations, these boilers are used to provide steam as heat running through pipelines leading to the NAWCAD catapult systems, in order to prevent frozen and ruptured pipes throughout heating season. The main purpose of the power plant is to provide steam to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst catapult operations in testing aircraft and launch valves for research and development purposes.
