Daniel Peterlick, Defense Nuclear Weapons School support contractor (left), and U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Shaun Ouellette, Defense Threat Reduction Agency program manager (right), performs a mock interview with U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Domenic Martino, 87th Civil Engineering Squadron Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team leader, as a part of a media exercise during a Nuclear Weapons Incident Response (NWIRT) course at the 87th CES emergency management facility, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Feb. 10, 2022. The media exercise prepares participants of various federal agencies on how to conduct themselves when being interviewed by media outlets, relating to domestic nuclear weapons incidents. The NWIRT course is tailored to provide attendees an overview of Department of Defense (DOD) roles and the responsibilities in responding to a nuclear weapons incident and the coordination and synchronization with the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as mandated by national policy.
