Marine Aircraft Group 49 holds Relief and Appointment Retirement ceremony
U.S. Marine Corps. Sg. Maj. William Singleton, Marine Aircraft Group 49 sergeant major, gives his retirement speech during a relief and appointment retirement ceremony on July 17, 2022 at Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, N.J. The relief and appointment is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one senior noncommissioned officer to another. The mission of MAG 49 is to organize, train, and equip combat ready squadrons to augment and reinforce the active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency, or contingency operations, and to provide personnel and assault support capabilities to relieve operational tempo for active duty forces.
