Generating Airpower: Maintenance's Last Line of Defense
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Garrett Jackson, 305th Maintenance Squadron aircraft metals technology journeyman, measures a fixture to be welded on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Mar. 23, 2023. This fixture was designed and welded by the sheet metal shop using a tungsten welding machine. Sheet metal technicians work with other aircraft maintenance specialists, such as avionics technicians, engine mechanics, and hydraulic specialists, to ensure that aircraft and ground equipment are properly maintained and repaired.
