EOD, Army National Guard units to conduct range training

050513 | May 17, 2013

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. — Three units are scheduled to conduct mortar and artillery-firing training at the Dix ranges from May 18-19, 2013.

Training is slated to occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

The units training include: the 87th Civil Engineer explosive ordnance disposal unit, stationed here; the 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery Battalion New Jersey Army National Guard, out of Morristown, New Jersey; and the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania Army National Guard, out of Philadelphia.

This training is essential and helps to ensure the readiness of America's fighting force. As a result of these units performing their important training, residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and may experience possible ground shaking. It is important to note that noise from the ranges may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst works hard to minimize the impact training has on its surrounding communities and is committed to remaining good neighbors.
