14 injured in vehicle accident at JB MDL Published March 23, 2013 By 020313 JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Fourteen service members were injured when a military bus and privately owned vehicle were involved in an accident here at approximately 2 p.m. today near Range 18 on Range Road. Injured personnel included service members from both the bus and the vehicle. Two were initially determined to be in serious-but-stable condition and were released following treatment. The injured personnel were treated at Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Virtua Hospital. Twelve personnel were determined to be in stable condition and were treated on the scene and transported to local area hospitals by both local and military ambulance services. "It's a sad day any time there are injuries or otherwise," said Col. Charles Coursey, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst deputy commander. "I'm grateful our military and civilian first responders have protocols in place for events such as this. Those responders' actions most-likely saved lives today."
