The University of the Arts will host a free screening of "Fighting For Life", a powerful documentary about military medicine and war, today at 7 p.m. in the Levitt Auditorium during 'Air Force Week in Philadelphia.'

Two-time Academy Award winning director Terry Sanders, will answer questions following the screening, where he'll share his perspective on the making of the film and why it is so important to talk about military medicine during the week's events, which run through June 2.

The official website synopsis states the film is woven around military doctors, nurses and medics who consistently work with compassion, skill and dedication in the vortex of war, as well as students at USU, the "West Point" of military medicine, and their journeys toward becoming career military physicians.

"This is one of the most powerful documentaries of our time focusing on combat hospitals and the incredible care given those that wear the cloth of our nation." said Lt. Col. Paul Gourley, Air Force Week event planner. "It is also a meditation on war, and a call to action to never forget the wounded, to commit ourselves to their support now, tomorrow, and far into the future."

Air Force Week provides communities in the Philadelphia metro region with an opportunity to see the significant contributions, assets and talents of the U.S. Air Force and its Airmen. The week-long event will culminate with the 2008 McGuire Air Expo, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team, May 31 and June 1.
