Col. Frederick H. Martin, 305th Air Mobility Wing commander, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., was recently confirmed by the Senate for promotion to brigadier general.

"Col. Rick Martin represents the benchmark for all commanders to exemplify," said Col. Jim Kerr, 514th Air Mobility Wing, Air Force Reserve commander. "Our relationship is not only one of sincere friendship, but a mutual feeling of honor. He has a great understanding and the finest appreciation of the Active Duty, Guard and Reserve components."

As commander of the 305th Air Mobility Wing, Colonel Martin is responsible for the combined efforts of all operations and support activities associated with the worldwide air mobility mission. In addition, he oversees more than 10,000 active-duty, Guard and Reserve Air Force members and a civilian work force exceeding 1,700.

"I am humbled by this selection for promotion," said Colonel Martin. "I give credit to the tremendous men and women I have worked with here at McGuire and throughout my career. I've also had many great bosses, including my wife, Barb! There are many talented leaders in the Air Force, but by the grace of God, go I."

Colonel Martin assumed command of the 305th Air Mobility Wing in October 2005. Prior to his assignment here, he was the vice commander of the 62nd Airlift Wing, McChord AFB, Wash.
