JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. —
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and local firefighters unified to respond to a fire off base and near the Lakehurst side of the installation yesterday and today.
Due to wind conditions, the fire did spread from off base to a small portion on base. The situation is still ongoing, and firefighters and emergency personnel have responded to the fire and are actively monitoring.
Additionally, no installation infrastructure damages or injuries have been reported. Approximately 2,500 acres of wooded area have burned since the fire started.
The base has been in contact with Lakehurst DoD personnel and residents and will continue to keep them updated as the situation develops.
We urge all those affected to remain vigilant and follow any instructions given by emergency personnel.
