Media invited to preview joint base open house Published May 6, 2014 JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. - Media are invited to attend the preview show for the 2014 Joint Base Open House and Air Show May 9, 2014. News representatives will have a sneak peak at the aerial performances a full day ahead of the general public. They will also view the more than 35 static displays and observe our service members make the final airfield arrangements. The world-renowned Air Force Thunderbirds will rip through joint base airspace in their trademark F-16s, performing the most daring maneuvers known to man. Several of the Thunderbirds slated to perform will be available plane side to speak with media representatives and discuss this year's Open House and Air Show after their practice run on Friday. The U.S. Army's premier parachute team, the Golden Knights, who will awe the audience with death defying stunts and acrobatics, will also be performing. The open house - which is free and open to the public - is scheduled for May 10 and 11, 2014. Base officials are estimating about 250,000 attendees during the two-day event. A total of 13 aerial performers will entertain the crowd during the two-day event. Forty historic and current static aircraft will be displayed during this year's event--Bell UH-1 Iroquois, C-5 Galaxy, FedEx Airbus A300 and T-1A Jayhawk. Many of history's most storied aircraft as well as today's cutting-edge platforms will be on display for visitor's viewing pleasure.
