America's Oldest Airlift Squadron turns 90

Airmen assigned to the 305th Air Mobility Wing’s 6th Airlift Squadron commemorate its 90th anniversary at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. on 5 Oct, 2023. The Airlift Squadron is the oldest in the Air Force and derives its nickname, the Bully Beef Express, from its days of delivering beef food rations to British and Australian soldiers during World War II.

U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 305th Air Mobility Wing pose for a flight line photo on 10 May, 2023 at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. The 305th AMW extends America's global reach by generating, mobilizing and deploying KC-10 Extenders and C-17 Globemaster III’s to conduct strategic airlift and air refueling missions worldwide. In November 2021, the wing began transitioning to the new KC-46A Pegasus air refueling aircraft. Additionally, the Wing operates two of America's largest strategic aerial ports supporting the delivery of cargo and personnel to combatant commanders abroad.
