NAWCAD Lakehurst welcomes high school students to science symposium with eye on the future
February 17, 2024 — Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst hosted an annual science symposium on Feb. 9 featuring local students whose ingenuity could someday support the warfighter. The New Jersey Southern Junior Science and Humanities Symposium promotes research and experimentation in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields for high school students and recognizes outstanding achievement. The students compete for scholarships and other awards, with the top five finalists from the Lakehurst event advancing to the Department of Defense National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in New Mexico later this year. ... NAWCAD Lakehurst engineers named ‘SASE Promising Professionals’
November 17, 2021 — Two Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst engineers were named 2021 Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) Promising Professionals, an award that recognizes early career professionals who demonstrate tremendous potential for future workplace contributions... Full Steam Ahead: 87th CES Power Plant drives JB MDL flight testing operations
September 30, 2021 — With 33 years of experience, and the responsibility of supervising a 13-member crew, a typical morning for Mike Lenihan, 87th Civil Engineer Squadron boiler plant operator supervisor, starts with a walk around the 87th CES Power Plant on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The morning walk-around ensures the safety and good-working order of the plant’s heavy equipment and four high-pressure boilers, whose operation pre-dates Lenihan’s 33 years. The power plant must be kept ready for the potential of daily flight operations. “The main purpose of the power plant is to provide steam to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst catapult operations in testing aircraft and launch valves for research and development purposes,” said Lenihan. “My crew and I must keep up with the condition of the plant to support the fleet, in any way possible.”... NAWCAD Lakehurst supports virtual STEM camp
April 27, 2021 — Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst provided grant funding for and participated in a virtual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) camp experience for 197 underserved students in New Jersey's Atlantic City, Lakewood, Lakehurst and Toms River townships, in order to encourage their interest in STEM fields. NAWCAD Lakehurst provided more than $34,000 in grants to the annual Camp Invention experience, part of a nation-wide program created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF)... MORE

February 19, 2021 — Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst and New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering recently signed an Educational Partnership Agreement (EPA) to expand current recruitment efforts. “We’ve had a close working relationship with NYU Tandon for many years now,” said Kathleen Donnelly, NAWCAD Lakehurst executive director. “Several NYU Tandon alumni have already proved to be assets to the Naval aviation mission here at Lakehurst. With the new EPA, I have no doubt we will be seeing many more talented minds supporting the fleet.”... MORE
