“Power in the Pines” Open House and Air show will feature thrilling aerial demonstrations highlighting both modern and heritage aircraft. Attendees of all ages can enjoy a range of on-the-ground attractions including static displays from all branches of our military, food vendors, interactive displays, and family-friendly activities

Headlining this year’s show are the renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, whose dynamic demonstrations inspire millions of spectators around the globe.Spectators can look forward to seeing the pilots push the limits of their F-16 Fighting Falcons in breathtaking displays of speed, agility, and teamwork.

Be advised: Most of the static displays you will encounter at the 2025 Open House & Airshow are OPERATIONAL COMBAT AIRCRAFT. Please obey all posted instructions and do not touch or climb on any aircraft unless you are invited to do so by the aircrew.

Additionally:

Remember that trash can be sucked up into aircraft engines, damaging the aircraft and potentially endangering the lives of aircrew. Please help us keep the ﬂight line litter-free by using the trash receptacles provided for your convenience.
Trip hazards are everywhere. Watch for aircraft tie-down devices and grounding wires.
Observe all signs and respect barriers. They are in place for your safety.

C-5 Galaxy

The C-5 Galaxy is a strategic military transport aircraft used for carrying cargo and personnel. It is known for its immense size and capacity, being able to carry oversized cargo, including tanks and helicopters. The C-5 Galaxy is the largest aircraft in the U.S. Air Force inventory and is among the largest operational aircraft in aviation history.
KC-46A PEGASUS

The KC-46A is JB MDL's newest edition to its air fleet. The KC-46A tanker is approved by the U.S. Air Force for global deployments, including combat operations. The KC-46A delivers fuel, data and multi-mission capability for the U.S. and allies around the globe. Click here for more.
KC-135 Stratotanker

The KC-135 is the most numerous tanker in the US fleet and capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations. 141st Air Refueling Squadron operates the KC-135 here at JB MDL to provide aerial refueling capability for the United States and her allies. AH-1Z Viper

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) replaced the two-bladed AH-1W Super Cobra with the AH-1Z Viper, which features a new, four-bladed composite rotor system, performance-matched transmission, four-bladed tail rotor, upgraded landing gear and a fully integrated glass cockpit. UH-1Y Venom

The UH-1Y Venom replaced the UH-1N Huey and includes the latest in technology and production techniques to continue the legacy of the venerable and battle-proven H-1 helicopter design. The UH-1Y includes a new four-bladed, all-composite and ballistically tolerant rotor system, new engines and transmissions, integrated digital cockpit featuring multifunction flat panel displays, increased payload capabilities. C-130T Hercules

The legacy C-130T Hercules is a medium-sized multi-role transport aircraft supporting U.S. Navy operations world-wide. JB MDL's VR-64 is one of 15 Navy VR squadrons and one of five C-130T's Hercules units comprised of active-duty and reserve members that provides responsive logistics support to the fleet and humanitarian efforts. B-29 Superfortress

The B-29 Superfortress was the most capable bomber of World War II. It could carry more payload and fly faster and at higher altitudes than contemporary types such as the Boeing B-17, Consolidated B-24, or Avro Lancaster. Its performance enabled long-range systematic bombing of Japan in 1944 and 1945. Two modified B-29s dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in August 1945, helping end the war in the Pacific.
C-54 Skymaster

The first four-engine transport in Army Air Force service, the C-54 is a militarized version of the DC-4 airliner. The C-54 is best known for its participation in the Berlin Airlift during 1948 and 1949. A variant of the C-54 was the first aircraft purpose built to fly the President of the United States.
C-47 Skytrain

Few aircraft are as well known, were so widely used or used as long as the C-47. Affectionately nicknamed the "Gooney Bird," this aircraft was adapted from the Douglas DC-3 commercial airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II. During the war the C-47 was used for troop transport, cargo, paratrooper, for towing gliders and military cargo parachute drops.
B-25 Mitchell

The B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber that was introduced in 1941 and named in honor of Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. Used by many Allied air forces, the B-25 served in every theater of World War II, and after the war ended, many remained in service, operating across four decades. Click here for more.

Cessna L-19 Bird Dog

The Cessna L-19 Bird Dog was produced to fulfill the U.S. Army's need for an aircraft that could perform liaison and observation duties as well as adjust artillery fire. They requested it to be constructed of all metal, as the fabric-covered liaison aircraft used during World War II had short service lives.
Cessna 172 Skyhawk

The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is an American four-seat, single-engine, high wing, fixed-wing aircraft made by the Cessna Aircraft Company. First flown in 1955, more 172s have been built than any other aircraft. It was developed from the 1948 Cessna 170 but with tricycle landing gear rather than conventional landing gear.
