Black History Month Display Contest

Bill Spacy, 305th Air Mobility Wing vice commander, pose together in front of the winning Black History Month display Tuesday. The winning display included Buffalo Soldiers artifacts, African-American contributors to the military, Innovators of today and "first" African-American military accomplishment by individuals. Master Sgt. Donald Newlin, 108th ANG, brought in artifacts from his Great uncles "Buffalo Soldier" collection to enhance the static display created by Sergeant Holder. The items included a saddle, boots, hats, a scarf, gloves, a unit flag, musket and figurines dressed in replicated uniforms associated with the wars of that time frame. Staff Sgt. Tenisha Schexnayder, 108th ANG, also assisted with the display. Their display will remain standing this week. All personnel are invited to visit and experience the display in building 3327.

Eagle Flag Airmen build tents in tough conditions

Airmen recently deployed with the "421st Air Expeditionary Group" build an Alaskan tent during operations for Air Force Exercise Eagle Flag 07-3 at Lakehurst, N.J. The exercise, operated by the Air Mobility Warfare Center's 421st Combat Training Squadron, tests and trains Airmen on their expeditionary combat support skills.

Tent City

Staff Sgt. Sean Taylor, 819th Global Support Squadron aircraft ground equipment technician, connects the fuel lines for generators that will provide power to a tent city during the 621st Contingency Response Wing Mobility Exercise Tuesday. The four-day event included more than 150 participants in preparation for their Operational Readiness Inspection in March.

Prayer Breakfast

Chaplain (Col.) Brian Van Sickle, command chaplain for Air Mobility Command, speaks at the National Prayer Breakfast at the Chapel here Monday. Chaplain Van Sickle’s topic of choice was “Audacity of Hope” and readings from a Rabbi, the Quran and the New Testament of the Bible were heard. Col. Rick Martin, 305th Air Mobility Wing commander, along with about 250 others were in attendance at the breakfast. On behalf of Chaplain Van Sickle, the Chapel staff donated food to the Trenton Food Kitchen for the Homeless. Each year since 1952, the President of the United States has hosted the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. For many years, the Armed Forces have enjoyed the privilege of joining in similar observances at military installations around the world.
