Inspector General 

To independently and objectively assess readiness, discipline, and efficiency on DoD’s only tri-service Joint Base and provide status to senior leaders on Airmen’s ability to support and sustain global mobility, training, and innovation while also managing the Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Programs.

To strengthen and improve the force by acting as the installation commander's eyes and ears, ever alert to issues affecting the 87 ABW, tenant units and joint partners on JB MDL.




Fraud Waste and Abuse

 According to AFI 90-301 Installation IGs will:

Encourage the use of local FWA hotlines for reporting suspected fraud, waste and "abuse" without fear of reprisal.

Establish controls to protect the identity of individuals who request to be annonymous.

Implement an active Air Force FWA Program to detect and identify potential FWA.

What is FWA?

Fraud - Any intentional deception designed to unlawfully deprive the Air Force of something of value or to secure from the Air Force for an individual benefit, privilege, allowance, or consideration to which he or she is not entitiled.
Waste - The extravagant, careless, or needless expenditure of Air Force funds or the consumptionof Air Force property that  results from the deficient practices, systems controls, or decisions. The term also includes improper practices not involving prosecutable fraud.
Abuse - Intentional wrongful or improper use of Air Force resources. Examples include misuse of rank, position, or  authority that causes the loss or misuse of resources such as  tools, vehicles, computers, or copy machines.

What Does an Installation IG do anyway?

The primary charge of the IG is to sustain a credible Air Force IG system by ensuring the existance of responsive complaint investigations and FWA programs characterized by objectivity, integrity and impartiality.

How are complaints Handled?

All complaints recieved by the IG office are analyzed to determine the best resolution process. they may be Assisted, Referred, Transferred, Dismissed or Investigated.
-Complaints are assisted by being provided the appropriate authority agency if the complaint is not an IG matter.
-Complaints are referred to the comaplaint's chain of command or the appropriate channels for resolution
-The complaint is transferred to another command or branch of service due to the subject matter.
-Dismissals are usually beacuse of lack of sufficient information. If the complainant requests dismissal the IG still retains the right ti investigate if the complaint is deemed necessary.
-Investigations are conducted on all cases where it appears on of the following have occured: Reprisal, Restriction or Improper Mental Health Evaluation referral.
