AFSA celebrates Women’s History Month on Joint Base MDL

— On March 25, the Chapter 211 of the Air Force Sergeants Association celebrated Women’s History Month on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, in highlighting achievements and contributions from women in history and contemporary society, especially those that served or serve in the military. To celebrate this annual event, AFSA hosted the Women’s History panel, virtually through Zoom and Facebook Live, created as a network for women who are actively serving within the Joint Base MDL community. With a total of four panelists and 50 attendees, the hosts for this occasion were U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. With over 25 years of military service, Wynne is fully prepared to take on this position to successfully lead Joint Base MDL into the future. Wynne is joined by his wife Andrea, sons Austin and Cory, and their Boston terrier Gizmo. Since the start of his military career in August 1996, Wynne progressed from being an aircraft maintainer to a squadron superintendent at the 730th Air Mobility Squadron, Yokota Air Force Base, Japan. — Rodney Jester, the son of World War II 305th Bombardment Group flight engineer, Tech Sgt. Edward Jester, made a visit to the 305th Air Mobility Wing headquarters, along with his wife, Sadie, to commemorate his father's wartime service under the CAN DO Wing, on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Nov. 18, 2021. Stuart Lockhart, 305th AMW historian, welcomed the couple into the facility as he showed displays of Tech. Sgt. Jester's belongings, donated by his son, Rodney Jester, to preserve his legacy, his wartime service, and to inspire and inform today’s Airmen. Full Steam Ahead: 87th CES Power Plant drives JB MDL flight testing operations

— With 33 years of experience, and the responsibility of supervising a 13-member crew, a typical morning for Mike Lenihan, 87th Civil Engineer Squadron boiler plant operator supervisor, starts with a walk around the 87th CES Power Plant on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The morning walk-around ensures the safety and good-working order of the plant’s heavy equipment and four high-pressure boilers, whose operation pre-dates Lenihan’s 33 years. The power plant must be kept ready for the potential of daily flight operations. “The main purpose of the power plant is to provide steam to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst catapult operations in testing aircraft and launch valves for research and development purposes,” said Lenihan. “My crew and I must keep up with the condition of the plant to support the fleet, in any way possible.”...
