America's Oldest Airlift Squadron turns 90

Airmen assigned to the 305th Air Mobility Wing’s 6th Airlift Squadron commemorate its 90th anniversary at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. on 5 Oct, 2023. The Airlift Squadron is the oldest in the Air Force and derives its nickname, the Bully Beef Express, from its days of delivering beef food rations to British and Australian soldiers during World War II.

The 305th AMW says 'Can Do' to Dock 46 Two-Bay Hangar

Joint Base Leadership and personnel attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the 305th Air Mobility Wing’s Dock 46 Two-Bay Hangar at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. on 24 Aug. 2023. New Jersey 4th District Congressman Chris Smith addressed the audience on the strategic value the facility brings to the KC-46A Pegasus refueling mission. The event concludes four and a half years of planning and 240,650 accident-free man-hours after its initial groundbreaking on December 3, 2018. A military construction project valued at nearly $54 million, the hangar will serve as a mission-critical asset in the KC-46A Pegasus' ability to provide Rapid Global Mobility for the Joint Force.

305th AMW SERE Operations conducts Water Survival Preparation

U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 305th Air Mobility Wing’s Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Operations, pose for a photo at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. on 15 June, 2023. The 305th SERE Operations Team won the 2022 AMC SERE Specialist, Trailblazer and Program of the year awards. Additionally, the team recently partnered with Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., to provide aircrew with realistic scenarios where flight crews must work together in order to survive a potential aircraft crash in the ocean. Exercises like this help build interoperability and standardized training capabilities throughout different service branches and our allied partners.

The 305th AMW flies last sortie with the KC-10

In November 2021, the Wing began transitioning to the new KC-46A Pegasus air refueling aircraft.
